Lester Laminack is a nationally known author and conference speaker.  His academic publications include several books: Learning with Zachary, Spelling in Use, Volunteers working with Young Readers, contributions to The Writing Workshop:  Working Through the Hard Parts, and a new book, Learning Under the Influence of Language and Literature. In addition, Lester is also the author of 4 children’s books: The Sunsets of Miss Olivia Wiggins, Trevor’s Wiggly-Wobbly Tooth, Saturdays and Tea Cakes, and Jake’s 100th Day of School.

He recently retired from the department of Birth-Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle Grades Education, at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy education.  He is currently involved with writing, his research interests, and consulting on a full-time basis.

 

 

 

 The focus of the conference is "Building Bridges Across the Curriculum with Picture Books and Read Aloud (K-8)". Join Lester for an -in-depth look at the power of read aloud in our classrooms. Lester was a featured speaker at the state No Child Left Behind Conference held in Chicago in February, and was also a speaker at the International Reading Association annual convention held in Chicago in May.
