What is MID-State Reading Council?
MID- State Reading Council is a non-profit, professional organization whose members promote reading and literacy for people of all ages.  Currently we have about 175 members involved with MID-State, drawing professionals from both McLean and Dewitt Counties.
 
What are the benefits of membership?
Membership in the council provides the following valuable literacy opportunities:
1.  State Organization-  Join MID-State and you also are a member of the Illinois Reading Council.
2.  Community Involvement-  Join MID-State to promote reading and literacy activities in your school and community.
3.  Annual Conference-  Attend the outstanding state conference held each March in Springfield.  The conference features hundreds of presenters and nationally renowned authors and illustrators.  MID-State members receive a discounted registration fee.
4.  Grants- Each year grants are given to fund school and community literacy projects.
5.  Publications-  As a member, you receive the quarterly professional "IRC Journal" and the "IRC Communicator" newsletter, as well as the MID-State newsletter.
6.  Networking-  Meet and share information with people from your community and all around Illinois who are interested in promoting literacy.
7.  Prairie Literacy Conference-  A nationally known and respected literacy expert is the featured speaker at this annual 2-day conference held each summer.
